Mikkeller Beer Geek Brunch - Weasel
This Imperial Oatmeal Stout is brewed with one of the world’s most expensive coffees, made from droppings of weasel-like civet cats (no, we are NOT joking). The fussy Southeast Asian animals only eat the best and ripest coffee berries. Enzymes in their digestive system help to break down the bean. Workers collect the bean-containing droppings for the Weasel / Civet Coffee. The exceedingly rare Civet Coffee has a strong taste and an even stronger aroma. Hey, we couldn’t make up a story like this if we tried so you KNOW it must be true! 11% abv
Mouth Watering Wines
Lush, juicy, crisp, dry, sweet, grassy, ripe, etc, etc, etc. These are the many, many descriptions you hear when people describe wines. Do you often wonder “what the *!@#$ are they TALKING about??” Come on by Red, White & Brew and check out our break down of why wines have different tastes and what you should look for when buying wines. Do you like lush & ripe wines or are you a fan of crisp & dry wines? We’ll show you what to look out for.
For example:
St Hallett Shiraz Grenache is JUICY. The blend of Shiraz and Grenach combines the soft tannins and spicy pepper of Shiraz and the juicy raspberry flavors of Grenache. This wine is a perfect complement to game, red meat and vegetarian dishes.
Miami Burgers
1 pound ground chuck or ground turkey
kosher salt & freshly ground black pepper
1 1/2 tblsp canola oil
1/2 cup mayonnaise
4 cloves roasted garlic, mashed
4 hamburger buns, split
1/4 cup Dijon mustard
8 thin slices Swiss Cheese
4 thin slices smoked ham
2 dill pickles, sliced into 1/4-inch thick slices
Divide the meat into 4 equal portions. Form each portion loosely into a 3/4 inch thick burger and make deep depression in the center with your thumb. Season both sides of each burger with salt & pepper. Cook the burgers, using the oil. Remove the burgers to a plate. Combine the mayonaise and roasted garlic in a small bowl and season with salt & pepper to taste. Spread both sides of the bun with the mayonaise and mustard. Place a slice of cheese on each bun bottom, place a burger on top, and then top the burger with a slice of ham, another slice of cheese, and some pickle slices. Cover the bun tops. Cook the burgers on a sandwich press or wrap the burgers in aluminum foil and cook in a hot skillet over high heat (put a heavy skillet on top of the burgers to press them) until golden brown and the cheese has melted - about a minute and a half per side. Serve immediately.

Look like a hero when you show up to the BBQ with a case of awesome beer. No one will know that you really spent pennies on a dollar for some amazing craft brews. Here’s what we have left — as always, first come, first served. If you want to reserve one, reply to this e-mail asap.

Elysian Porter — 4 cases left. Great with BBQ ribs. And at $24 for a case of 12, you can’t beat it — Regularly $72!!
Ballast Point Wahoo Wheat — 2 cases left. The ULTIMATE Summer beer — and only $36 for a case — Regularly$60!! We also have 1 case left of Ballast Point Yellowtail Pale Ale. Same price — same great quality.
LIQUOR: Vodka, Vodka, Vodka — and a little Grappa too. We have 3 words in Vodka for you — running the gammut from top-of-the-line to value packed. ZYR, Ultimat and V-6. Zyr, our forever favorite, is a premium vodka. Ultimat, new to the market, and great for your everyday cocktails and V-6, a rye vodka that is great for those Sunday morning Bloody Mary’s and priced right at $10 a bottle!
Grappa — we know that sometimes even that word makes your toes curl — but this one is different. It’s a Grappa made with Moscato grapes so it is not as harsh as you remember Grappa tasting. This one is yummy; smooth with just hint of sweetness. Perfect as a digestif after a big Memorial Day BBQ!
Robert Hall Rose de Robles
So — we have been touting this awesome Rose by the Robert Hall winery for the past couple of weeks. It will not disappoint. We just tried it the other day with THE Robert Hall and we loved it. For those who STILL do not understand that Rose is not a sticky sweet blush wine — rather a sophisticatedly dry and juicy wine, you MUST give this a try and see what you are missing. A blend of Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre and a touch of Cinsaut gives the aromas of fresh raspberries with a hint of tangerine. This is what wine is meant to be — flavorful, approachable and honest.
Try this Rose de Robles at a discounted price for the month of May — $15.99 for a 750 ml bottle.
Cinco de Mayo is almost HERE!!

Our 5 Year Anniversary Highlights Wines by Goldschmidt
This is the second production of the Boulder Bank series of wines. Twenty-five year veteran winemaker Nick Goldschmidt has created this wine to showcase New Zealand’s pre-eminent varietal — Sauvignon Blanc. Having made wine world-wide for many years, Nick has returned to his New Zealand roots to create Boulder Bank. Situated on the banks of the Opawa River, the Dillion’s Point Vineyard is truly unique for growing Sauvignon Blanc grapes. Gentle afternoon breezes and cool night temperatures make this site a very desirable growing location. Passionfruit, grapefruit and notes of freshly cut pepper also define this wine. Pairs well with seafood and poultry including citrus and vinaigrette sauces.
Come to Red, White & Brew on Thursday, May 7th at 5pm and meet Nick Goldschmidt in person. Sample his wines, listen to his tales — it promises to be a truly incredible evening.
(We’ll also be sampling Boulder Bank Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc THIS Thursday at THx4)
Anniversary Weekend Also Includes Robert Hall from Robert Hall Winery
Tucked into the hillside east of Paso Robles, along California’s enchanting Central Coast, lies a dream 40 years in the making. This is Robert Hall Winery, where years of hard work and infinite attention to detail are invested into every bottle of wine they make. As farmers first, the goal is to nuture the land and coax from it the finest fruit possible from the vineyards on the Hall Ranch – each with its own personality and each expressing unique nuances that strive to capture the essence of Paso Robles. A true steward of the land, one can usually find Robert Hall working in the vineyards. When he’s not there, he can be found in the Tasting Room of the winery — greeting customers or travelling around promoting his wines.
We are so fortunate to have him here for a QUICK, BRIEF, SHORT visit on Saturday, May 9th. He’s stopping by here on his way to the airport to go back home to California — so he’ll be here right at noon on Saturday. If you want a chance to meet Robert Hall and sample some of his outstanding wines (including my new favorite, his Rose) you need to make Saturday, May 9th a major stop on your Saturday morning list!
