Tasty Treat of the Week - Valentine’s Edition

A Shiraz from California

Robert Pepi is a staple in California.  Their 2005 Shiraz is quite yummy & quite eclectic.  That is why we bought 20 cases of it this week.  We loved the wine and we loved the price.  And so will you.  In our quest to discover great wines under $15, we introduce you to Robert Pepi 2005 Shiraz — at a mere $10 a bottle!  Better by the case – $8 (or $100 for the case).  This dark & tangy wine possesses deep raspberry and black cherry aromas with a creamy vanilla oak hint and a tad of earthiness.  It’s pretty “big” for a $10 bottle of wine — light oak, big color and big flavor.  In a word . . . ROBUST.  90% Shiraz 10% Barbera.

 Oskar Blues Ten Fidy

Ten Fidy is the beer equivalent of a decadently made milkshake made with malted milk balls and Heaven’s best chocolate ice cream. A 10% ABV beer, Ten Fidy is the ultimate winter warmer.  It recieved a perfect 100 point rating from Ratebeer.com.  In 4-packs only, this beer is extremely limited (we only got a handfull of cases) and once word gets out, we don’t expect it to be around too long.

Tasty Treat of the Week - February 2, 2009

Stone’s Cali-Belgique IPA

A California styled IPA with Belgian influence?  While still recognized as a Stone brew, it’s new and different.  Think of it as an identical twin to Stone IPA that was raised in Belgium!!  Limited released — as always!
Don’t forget — Flying Fish Espresso Porter is still available but with only a few 4 packs left.  Grab ‘em while you can . . .
ALSO — the rumor mill has Oscar Blues Ten Fidy coming in soon.  If you remember correctly, we got very little last year.  If you are interested in a 4-pack, let us know and we’ll hold it for you.

Domaine De Merode Ladoix les Chaillots

Sounds fancy-schmancy, huh?  You may not think of the little known Ladoix (lah-DWAH) appellation as a source of great Pinot Noir, but it makes perfect sense.  The AOC abuts Corton at the base of the hill and much of the wine from this area is, in fact, entitled to be bottled as Corton.  Think of this as a baby Corton at a fantastic price ($25).  Merode’s Ladoix-Les Chaillots is all charm and finesse.  Light ruby colored with an attractively fruity nose intertwined with aromas of sweet oak and flowers, it is round and well balanced, with lovely fruit and a smooth, velvety textured finish.
