June 15, 2010 — We Lied.

Posted by staceyblacker

OK, We lied — THx4 is THIS Week

OK, we lied.  Last week we told you we were switching THx4 to the 2nd week of the month (just for June) but we decided we couldn’t possibly NOT have Thx4 on the third Thursday of the month so .  .  . here we are:

THx4 is THIS THURSDAY!!!!

Corey Creek Rosé is the ultimate refreshing indulgence for those warm summertime days.  A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon saignee (the winemaking process of bleeding off a portion of red wine after only a short period of contact between the juice and the grape skins, resulting in a salmon pink colored wine).  With bright cherry and boysenberry aromas, this wine is best with a slight chill ~ it is crisp and fruity and very juicy.  Great with flaky fish dishes, pasta salads or all by itself!  STOP BY THIS THURSDAY AT 5PM TO SAMPLE THIS PERFECT SUMMER SIPPER!

Something TOTALLY Different

Philadelphia Brewing Co has come out with a Springtime beer that has a LOT of people talking.  Fleur de Lehigh is one of the most unique beers you will ever try — whether you love it or hate it!  Spring is a time of warmth, blossoms and memories of Shibe Park, where Philadelphians once celebrated the annual rebirth of the baseball season.  This unfiltered, golden ale blooms upon the palate with a vibrant floral character and accentuates any seasonal feast.  Fleur de Lehigh is brewed with chamomile, rhubarb, ginger, rose hips and lemon grass then fermented with Belgian yeast to provide a uniquely full-flavored, yet highly drinkable spring/summer brew.  4.2% abv.

Stacey’s new Favorite Liqueur

Posted by staceyblacker

Stacey’s new Favorite Liqueur

St. Germain is a fairly new Elderflower Liqueur made from handpicked elderflower blossoms and artisanally crafted in France.  Blended with a small amount of citrus and natural cane sugar to accentuate the subtle flavor of the elderflowers, the resulting liqueur is delicate and balanced with fresh floral aromas and flavors of pear, apricot and zesty grapefruit.  Try a 1 1/4 shot of St Germain with 2 shots of Prosecco or your favorite Champagne  and a teeny bit of club soda or sparkling water — AN AWESOME SUMMER REFRESHER!

Wines by Mirrabooka

Posted by staceyblacker

Mirrabooka is the name that the Australian Aborigines give to the Southern Cross constellation, which has served as a celestial navigation guide in the Southern Hemisphere for centuries.  According to the myth, Mirrabooka was an ancestral being immortalized in the night sky to watch over his tribe and protect all humanity.  The Southern Cross is featured on the Mirrabooka label.

The Mirrabooka wines are crafted in the style that Australians love to drink.  They are fresh, vibrant wines with a strong sense of place and an emphasis on elegance.  The best part is that they are also modestly priced so you can enjoy them every day.

The Unwooded Chardonnay is an aromatic, crisp dry white wine that makes a perfect aperitif or accompaniment to seafood and poultry dishes as well as salads.

The Shiraz is a deeply colored, intensely flavored wine with a terrific balance of fruit and spice characters, making it an ideal accompaniment to grilled and barbequed meats.

Wines by Terra Andina

Posted by staceyblacker

This past Holiday season we noticed a huge surge in sales of Recession Buster Wines.  Yes, we sold our fair share of wines over $20 a bottle but the majority of you are still feeling the bite of the recession and choose your wines carefully.  In fact, we’d venture to say that the majority of you are buying more wine — but you are buying value wines; wines that are good quality AND priced right.  Good for you for having such discriminating taste!  Terra Andina wines from Chile are just those wines.  Both are under $10 and both are exceptional.  In fact, the Carmenere was probably one of our biggest sellers this Holiday season.

Dark and deep red with violet hues, Terra Andina Carmenere is a tasty blend of black currant, blackberry, grilled red pepper and black pepper.  With a very varietal character, this wine shows balance with volume and soft but present tannins and a pleasant after taste.  Pair this bad boy with braised and roasted meats, BBQ, hamburgers and mushrooms.

The Terra Andina Chardonnay is juicy and fresh with pineapple and citrus notes and a silky smooth texture.  Serve it with chicken, shellfish or pastas with a light cream sauce.

Do NOT pass on this extraordinary experience.  You will be allowed to special order any Scotch you want in time for Christmas or the end of Hanukkah.

New Belgian Beers come to NJ & RW&B has ‘em first!

Posted by staceyblacker

New Belgian Beers come to NJ & RW&B is the first to get them

Two weeks ago we met the coolest guy.  His name is Brian Ewing and he is the founder & owner of a company called “Twelve Percent”.  What Brian does is to find obscure and wonderful Belgian beers and bring them back to the US.  Most of what he discovers and distributes come from teeny tiny breweries with small production.   The mission of Twelve Percent is simple:  Travel in search of the finest hand-crafted ales available — and bring them home.  Based out of Brooklyn, Brian is very picky about who he sells his products to so he sought out Red, White & Brew as a place to carry his amazing beers in NJ.  We are honored that Brian chose our store to debut his fantastically boutique beers.  You will NOT see these beers ANYWHERE in the area.   Stop by and check them out.  Grab a few for your Thanksgiving dinner.  Have a sampling party.  We can honestly tell you that there isn’t a bad one in the bunch — we tried every one of them and LOVED them.  Below is the label from De Hoevebrouwers - Koekelaring.  A Belgian Brown Ale with an alcohol content of 6.5%.  Medium brown in color with a tan head and tight lacing, this ale boasts notes of cinnamon with a faint malt sweetness and a finish of dry, hoppy bitterness.  Delicious!
